Frickin Music from Space!
Sirius Satellite RadioI've been eyeballing satellite based radio for a couple of years. I finally took the plunge and bought a Sirius Satellite Radio device (Orbitor from Radio Shack - $129 for mobile dock and receiver). It's absolutely awesome. My commute is much more pleasant and my listening habits have changed. I used to listen to the same CD over and over until I got tired of it as I just can't stand regular radio for very long. On average, most US radio stations play between 18-22 minutes of commercials per hour. Sirius, on the other hand, plays (let me count here) 0 minutes per hour. Nothing but music followed by more music, hour after hour, day after day.

I was a little worried about losing reception, but it hasn't been an issue at all. There is a ground based repeater somewhere near downtown Portland that keeps me jammin all way into the parking garage at work. It is an impressive service and the Orbitor device is inexpensive, convenient, and high on the cool factor. Keep rockin!
Shaun of the Dead
Shaun of the DeadWhat do you get when you cross excellent british humor with zombies? Perhaps the best darn comedy of all time? Ok seriously, this movie is certainly on par with Super Troopers and may even surpass it. The more I think about it, the more I am just laughing my butt off. This is one funny movie.

Simon Pegg, playing the lead character, Shaun, and his dead beat friend Ed played by Nick Frost are a dynamite pair that kept me laughing for hours after the movie was over. It's difficult to describe this movie other than to say it's a comedy with zombies in it. While the plot centers around zombies and the characters plight to survive, it comes off as 100% comedy. Despite the fact that blood goes everywhere and there are guts a plenty, you are laughing the whole time at the antics on screen.

I am looking forward to seeing this movie again in the theatres. It's out on DVD in the UK already and I am frantically searching for a bit torrent as I type this. I will purchase this as soon as it's released, but I must have more of this movie as soon as possible.
