Vacation Plans
|
Kevin and I were originally planning on going to Disneyland in March. However, it dawned on me that Disney World would be a fun alternative. Kevin and I met at Disneyland when we worked their over 10 years ago. As I was pondering this I realized that Damon, another close friend I met while working at Disneyland, might also want to go. Damon, his wife Monica (Damonica), Rebecca, and I schemed often about going to Disney World. Unfortunately, it never happened. That is to say that we never went together. Kevin and I ended up in P-Town and Damon moved up in ranks at Disneyland. He's like the Supreme Commander of All That Is Cool or some such. His position requires that he take "business trips" to Disney World sometimes so he's actually been there several times. It's like vacation adultery!
Despite the obvious betrayal, I invited Damonica to Orlando with us. They happily accepted. After some serious cajoling, I managed to convince Val and Kevin that Orlando was a good idea. Now there's 14 of us (6 adults, 8 kids) headed to Florida at the end of April. Less than 2 months away! A trip of this magnitude requires serious planning. It was my idea, so Becka and I are the official vacation planners.
We are renting a huge house that's about 20 minutes from Disney World. It has 3 master bedrooms and 3 regular bedrooms. There is a big screen TV, dining room, living room, large covered deck area with a pool, and fenced backyard for the kids to run around in. This is a great alternative to a hotel as we will have privacy, no other guests, lines or crowds to deal with, and it's *way* cheaper than hotel rooms to fit all 14 of us.
In addition to renting the house, we had to find the most economical method of transportation. We decided on a 15 passenger van similar to our own. It will not only save us from renting multiple cars, but we'll save on parking fees at the theme parks since Damon gets free parking. Double bonus.
We have already purchased our airline tickets. Kevin's family and us will be on the same plane and will arrive 20 minutes before Damonica. Can't beat the timing on that. Next on our list of things to-do is purchase the actual Disney theme park tickets. So much to do...

It's too bad you can't get a professional film crew to follow you around. This is ripe for reality tv humor.
