Chibby has told me a few times about how great Rhapsody is so I signed up tonight. For $12.99 per month you get streaming access to a veritable limitless selection of music. However, as a mac user, I can't download the songs so I have to stream them. Not a big deal since I'm rarely without Internet.
However, in my two hours or so of goofing with it off and on, I have found several major mistakes in their database. For example, Scala, a European girls choir is listed under techno with a bio that clearly belongs to a different group. A search for "disney" takes me to Christian praise and worship songs. I found countless other small issues that really take the glean off of an otherwise terrific idea. There were also a lot of web site bugs (links that don't work, things that should be links that aren't, etc). Overall, I give it a 8/10.
We took a tour of the tuality hospital maternity ward and as you can see, the rooms are quite posh. The best part is that the new doctor and this hospital are about one mile from our house. Can't beat that!
In case you haven't heard, YouTube has been shoved aside by the latest and best online video offering to date. The key factor that sets Vimeo apart is the support for full 720p high definition video. Not "sort-of" HD, but real 720p streaming to your screen. I also like that the they enforce copyrights pretty well keeping my home videos intact and eliminating last night's episode of Heroes.
I took the time to further edit out Disney vacation video and have uploaded the first two parts to my Vimeo account. I think you'll agree that the quality is vastly improved.
Bill was sending text messages to chibby from the street outside the window in the bar we were at. I believe the message described the cold weather in pirate speak. Happy 30th birthday Bill!
Notice the jivers across the street that wouldn't leave the yuppie bar and join us at the hipster bar across the street. Sure they have a ton of beer on tap but we have live jazz, Chernobyl Stout, and crappy nachos. Here is happening. There is not.
Who is this strange coworker of mine with the sun glasses and makeshift hood? Tom thought it was the unibomber, but alas it's poor marinus after a visit to the eye doctor. His pupils were so large, his iris was completely gone!
Once in a while, once in a lifetime, Once has earned a spot among my favorite films of all time. I'm not saying it's the best film I've ever seen, just saying that it belongs on the same shelf as the best of the best.
It's so rare that I am so completely blown away by a movie, much less one that cost a mere 160K and starred musicians that had never acted before. The credits were the shortest I've ever seen... this was a shoestring budget film that was so blessed and perfectly crafted. Props to all of the film makers for making a true diamond in the rough.
The music is a huge part of this film and it is also a remarkable accomplishment. Check out the wikipedia entry on this film for some great details about the making of Once.
It only took a quarter of a year but chibby's new plates arrived! Joleine ordered them back in October. Apparently those prison inmates are pretty busy. For some reason, the first choice of "chibbs" wasn't accepted so the second choice was used. Perhaps there is another chibbs out there with personalized plates!
I found this gem of an item ok a coworkers desk. It's one of my favorite shows so I naturally had to snap a pic. It weighs a lot more than I expected; about as heavy as a typical paperweight.
